The Chongqing dog "Type" Debate
Unfortunately the scope of different 'types' of dog labeled CQd is so vast as to hardly resemble the same breed. Contrary to what some breeders tell you, the Chongqing dog does have a specific breed type and yes, even a breed standard. Not two standards, not a standard made up by Conservation Center to fit their dogs, but a real standard made up by those interested in recognition and reclamation and this is thanks to Franki Leung - CKU ( FCI ) Standard . Only CQd with CKU Pedigree & FCI Standard is real worthy CQd. Unfortunately over 90% Russian CQd become RKF (FCI) member without to be approved by CKU( FCI ),value of such Chongqing dogs are pet quality. Like many dog breeds, the Chongqing dog has been bred so indiscriminately from 2014 -2016 that it is in quite sad shape. Chongqing dog can't be quadratic, square appearance 1:1 like Chuandong - Chongqing dog height at withers is 35-45cm, max 17-19 kg , proportion of Cqd - "City type" is body longer than height at withers , proportion is 10:9 , the final decision of CKU standard we don't know yet.
